The caudal epidural is a medical procedure indicated for the treatment of low back pain and pain radiating to the legs, as occurs in cases of herniated disc, lumbar canal stenosis or sciatica.

The technique consists of administration of medication into the epidural space through the sacral hiatus, at the bottom of the spine. The goal is to reduce inflammation of the nerve roots and relieve pain, thus improving the patient's mobility and quality of life.

This is a minimally invasive procedure that is performed under strict aseptic conditions and, in many cases, with the support of ultrasound or radiological control to increase precision and safety.

Previously, an individualized medical assessment is carried out to confirm the indication and rule out contraindications. The caudal epidural is part of a comprehensive pain treatment plan, adapted to the specific needs of each patient.
